Natalie Hickey practises in general commercial litigation and is a specialist in intellectual property. She has extensive experience in commercial and consumer law including equitable claims arising from unconscionable conduct, as well as statutory claims arising under the Australian Consumer Law. Natalie also practises in sports law and defamation. She has a Masters’ degree from the University of Melbourne in media and telecommunications law.

A former law firm partner of King & Wood Mallesons, she has extensive experience in commercial and consumer law including equitable claims arising from unconscionable conduct, as well as statutory claims arising under the Australian Consumer Law.
She has acted in many disputes concerning copyright, trade marks, designs, marketing, brands, confidential information, the Internet and digital technology.
Natalie holds a Masters’ degree in media and telecommunications law from the University of Melbourne; her thesis was in defamation. She has a keen interest in all media-related matters, including social media. Natalie puts this into practice as a co-editor of Victorian Bar News.
She also practises in sports law. Natalie has served as a Counsel assisting the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct Commission since the 2017/2018 cricket season. She is a member of the Netball Australia Super Netball League Disciplinary and Appeals Panel (since 2018).

Natalie is identified by Doyles Guide as a Preeminent Technology, Media and Telecommunications Junior Counsel in Victoria 2022, and a Leading Intellectual Property Junior Counsel - Australia 2022. She is recognised in Best Lawyers 2022 in Litigation, Intellectual Property and Alternative Dispute Resolution; also Who’s Who Legal: Australia & New Zealand 2021 (IP – Trademarks chapter).
Natalie is an experienced private mediator, particularly in IP, competition and consumer law, and defamation matters. She has mediation experience hosting by Zoom during COVID-19.
